I shot this video for AJ+ – Al Jazeera’s digital channel – while I was in the UK over the summer. I spent a day in Leeds with Adam Smith and the team from The Real Junk Food Project (TRJFP), a fantastic initiative to stop food waste.
From 5am til dark, Adam Smith, founder of TRJFP, and the team, are busy salvaging food destined to waste. They turn it into delicious meals which they serve in a string of cafes in Leeds.
Although I shot this in Leeds, Smith’s passion has galvanized hundreds of people worldwide to open TRJFP cafes, where all food served is ‘waste’ and the price is set by the customers according to the ‘Pay as You Feel’ model.
